Unity Tutorial 06

For this weeks Unity tasks, we began to learn about visual styling and world interactions.

Firstly, to start us off, we learned how to use the rest tool and place elements and enlarge them or make them smaller, so it works well with multiple different scales.

We then also learned how to use the static members in the scripts and the singletons which then made up our UIHeathBar

We then moved on to the second tutorial which was the world interactions, we learned how Raytracing is important as it detects things like colliders. We also found out that its used for other things its just depending on what type of game you have/ use it for

This week’s tutorials were fine to follow, I am constantly improving in relation to my gaming skills, however my love for games just doesn’t improve along with it!๐Ÿ˜…

In my opinion unity is just so tedious, even though the tutorials literally give you step my step instructions, I do make some mistakes on the way which then just stress me out and make my life a little bit harder so I really just can’t wait to get this done!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Reading 06

For this weeks task we had to write paragraphs within themes from our annotated bibliographies

It wasn't too bad, its probably been the easiest reading week task to say the least๐Ÿ˜‚The paragraphs just included and intro with a few sentences which included my thoughts on the paragraphs and also just a conclusion to close it all up. To be honest I actually kind of enjoys this weeks tasks as it wasn't to heavy like all the rest.

I have had some confusion with this module and I hope its not just me but all I can do is try my best and I hope my best is right!!๐Ÿ˜Š

Unity Tutorial 05

In this weeks tutorial, we began doing new things which was exciting nothing too complicated… We started to work on the camera since the one we used was just a static one. Firstly we downloaded the Cinemachine package and worked from there, it was kind of tedious like all other tutorial but as always I keep trying to improve my skills so I just went slow and made sure I followed each step. Its kind of interesting how it all works and how it makes the game looks.

Secondly,  for the second tutorial then for this week, Visual Styling Particles, again it was tedious  as always for me ๐Ÿ˜‚but I was just adding sprites and did them step by step so I didn’t make an mistakes so I could get the blast of smoke to work. It was an enjoyable Unity task to say the least ๐Ÿ˜‚ but I know I am improving which benefits to my skills in gaming!!

Doing Reading 05

For this weeks reading task we were analysing our own individual annotated bibliography's which we had to then look at the key terms and information we had gathered from the previous weeks.

We had to come up with themes that we were going to use when highlighting the key terms in order to show what is stated and what topic it lies under

For all of my research for my bibliographys, everything related back to health with different circumstances, so it was kind of difficult to come up with different themes. As I was reading back over it still baffled me how the Nintendo Wii can actually improve your physical and mental health in so many different ways, including medically for the elderly, or even people with diseases.

The themes I then decided to have were what was related back to my chosen articles, as I said before it was difficult as it was all to do with health but these are the ones I chose:

  1. Health in a Game
  2.  Effect / Benefits on the individuals
  3.  Why it physically highlights GDD

Unity Tutorial 04

For this week’s unity tasks, it was not too bad at all. I just learned how to duplicate sprites which was kind of interesting and is a good tool and very quick and easy way to duplicate things instead of doing it all one at a time.

I also learned how to move the enemy robots  and how to make ruby take damage when she runs into enemies. The tutorials are teaching me more about the coding part which actually really helps as its so easy to follow and they give step by step instructions.

The tutorials have not been too bad this semester, bar from my unity that keeps freezing but I had the same problem last semester, however I think I am finding the learning part better than last because I know the gist of what I am doing but hopefully what I know now from all these unities will help me in the game jam coming up.

Reading 04 Analysis

I'm continuing doing my annotated bibliography's from last week and I have been finding  them so interesting how beneficial the Nintendo Wii can be in so many different areas!๐Ÿ˜‚

For now, im trying my best to keep up with doing all the reading tasks each week and I still have to fix up my ones from last week as I didn't hit the word count!

I struggled with finding interesting topics at the start and was really confused and frustrated because all of mine related back to the elderly and their health and wellbeing with a Nintendo Wii, so I just kept referring back to GDD to make my point, i talked to Shaun about this issue and he said I was on the right track so it was all ok in the end.

As I said, a lot of my topics related back to helping the elderly in some sort of way which I found so interesting, so here's a few pictures I found to which were related to them

Unity Tutorial 03

So, for this week’s tutorial, I did the third unity tutorial!  In the lesson I learned how to allow Ruby to go through the Metal Cube sprite without colliding with the metal cubes.  Next I also learned from the tutorial how to set the pivot of the sprite so we can rotate it and I then added a physics system to the game which controls all the movements when we push a box.

I honestly hope I can improve my skills in Unity because I keep finding them kind of difficult, but from learning little bits in the tutorials I see that a lot of it can be applied to different types of game design like collision etc.

The tutorials are just a little tedious for me but Unity and games like this in general are just not my strongest point! However, I do feel like these tutorials are a little harder but maybe that is a good thing to challenge me! But so far so good..
